Candidate for Sioux Falls School Board

I am honored to announce my candidacy for one of the two open positions on the Sioux Falls School District School Board.

My 41 years in public education uniquely qualify me to be a member of the School Board. As a recently retired school superintendent, I bring practical, professional experience of sitting at the Board table. With my election, I would just be changing seats.

The majority of those 41 years were spent in the SFSD as a high school language arts teacher, as President of the Sioux Falls Education Association, as a Teacher on Special Assignment, and as a district Supervisor of the Homeless Education and Indian Education programs.

I know the challenges impacting our schools every day. As Board members, we need to work hard to ensure that our district lives its motto to educate and prepare students to succeed in the world today. We need to marshal our ingenuity and resources to meet our goal of creating a best-in-the-nation district. We need to engage our students, parents, staff, and community to ensure that our students thrive. We need to provide safe learning environments for all staff and students. And we need to set the standard for excellence in our academics and results, with our opportunities for students, our facilities and our programs.

I look forward to bringing my passion for learning, my experience in public education and my commitment to the Sioux Falls School District to the School Board. I thank you for considering me as a candidate, and I look forward to earning your vote.
